  • Is Email Marketing Really Dead?

    Date:

There are certainly a lot of advanced marketing concepts out there: SMS, social media, omnichannel marketing segmentation and artificial intelligence (AI) powered segmentation for a few of them. So, it's no wonder some people may thing that email marketing is on its way out. I've been hearing email is dead for years. Nothing could be further from the truth.

The fact is that email marketing remains at the very core of most digital-marketing tools. And even though it has been around for decades, it has kept up with the time and is still a top way to reach your customers. Just check out these stats:

  • The Two Minute / Four Hour Methods

    Date:

I was recently reading some articles about time management that made a whole lot of sense. It wasn't about some fancy new system with spreadsheets or logs or any other of the myriad systems out there. While these systems, if applied correctly, can be highly effective - they also consume a lot of time to maintain.

The first tidbit I read about is the 2-minute rule. It goes something like this: 'If something takes less than 2 minutes to do, don't put it on a list, just do it.' It got me thinking about how many things pop into my head about things I need to do, but just say to myself 'I have to remember to take care of that' or write it down on some list I have. It also made me realize how many of those things get pushed down the road until they become last minute to-do items or others where the opportunity was lost forever.

  • World Wide Web Code Up for Auction

    Date:

Being into all things computer, I read an interesting article about the WWW code being up for auction. Tim Bernes-Lee, a London-born computer scientist, invented the World Wide Web in 1989. This ended up revolutionizing the sharing and creation of information - one of the most significant inventions since Gutenberg invented the printing press back in the 15th century.

Sotheby's is auctioning off the digitally signed Ethereum blockchain non-fungible token (NFT), a one-of-a-kind digital asset which records ownership, includes the original source code, an animated visualization, a letter written by Berners-Lee and a digital poster of the full code from the original files.

NTFs have really become popular in recent months, including at auction. For instance, a digital-only artwork by American artist Mike Windelmann sold for nearly $70 million at Christie's in March.

  • The Rise of Remote Marketing Jobs

    Date:

LinkedIn reported some interesting data recently showing how remote marketing jobs are becoming more prevalent in US-based marketing companies. In particular, remote positions for digital marketing specialists and copywriters grew in demand over the last six months as companies have become more comfortable with work-from-home employees.

The popularity of remote work is up in general, but the growth of remote marketing jobs is a lot higher compared to other categories. For instance, 'SEO specialist" is among the top 5 marketing jobs that is highest in demand for remote positions.

As of May 20th, 2021 the percentage of paid job postings non LinkedIn that offered "remote work" had risen by 457% compared to one year ago. For marketing roles, the amount of remote job listings increased by 177% in the last six months.

  • Hate Captchas? We opted for a better choice.

    Date:
When I first set up this website, I was spending hours deleting spam user accounts and posts. Trying to go over my site logs was a nightmare because the majority of the logs were filled filled with bots trying to attack my site. So I gave in and installed captchas. I added extra questions to my webforms to try and filter out the spam. While these efforts helped, the bots just became smarter and found ways to get around them. One of the things that I hate the most is having to deal with Captchas, but I hate spam more.
  • Why Trust Matters More Than Ever

    Date:

Morning Consult recently released their 2021 survey of the most trusted brands around the world. They surveyed over 330,000 consumers across 15 markets to provide a global view on why trust matters more than ever for today's brands and businesses, the current state of consumer trust across brands, categories, and how current events are changing the dynamics around trust.

In today's world, trust is something that a brand cannot live without. Ninety percent of global consumers say their usage of a brand would be damaged if they lost trust in it. And consumers are a lot more likely to seek out, pay more for, buy more of, recommend and even forgive a brand if they trust it. In fact, on average, a third of global consumers would switch to a competitor's product or service if a company they trusted did something to break their trust.
